LinkUp

Current State

Unlike other job search engines that aggregate job listings from multiple sources, LinkUp sources job postings exclusively from company websites, ensuring that the job listings on their site are current, accurate, and not duplicated from other job search platforms. The platform offers a database of millions of jobs covering various industries and locations.

Problem

The job scrapers and data quality analysts are currently struggling with a dashboard that lacks sufficient insights and functionality, impeding their efficiency and the quality of their outcomes. The current navigation system forces users to constantly switch in and out of the product, even for minor tasks. The language and affordance in navigation are almost non-existent, making it challenging to locate common data points, forcing the users to dive deep just for quick reference.

Research

The team and I tackled the challenges faced by users in their day-to-day lives. To understand these challenges, we conducted interviews with a diverse group of individuals, including daily users, subject matter experts, solution engineers, admins, and power users, to gain a comprehensive perspective. Our research also involved analyzing the conventional structures of various job board platforms, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and mapping the missing tools and features. Finally, by synthesizing these findings, we aimed to design a solution to address these challenges and provide users with an enhanced experience.

User Journey Map

Solution

We aimed to simplify the workflow for job scrapers and data quality analysts. To achieve this, we strongly emphasized providing explicit affordance in navigation and actions, empowering users to find and utilize the necessary tools and content efficiently. Our approach included utilizing a sidebar layout pattern for insights and reference data points, and we used clear and contextual language to guide users through the platform. Additionally, we developed a robust design system and layout scaffolding to ensure consistency and coherence across the platform.

Ideation

We wireframed different options for the dashboard and object information pages, mapped out the content, refined the design, and tested it along the way. We focused on creating an intuitive layout for the LinkUp platform that simplifies the job search process and provides effective recruitment solutions. Through careful planning and iterative testing, we arrived at a design that met our high standards and exceeded user expectations.

Visual Language

My design approach for the LinkUp platform was centered on creating a neutral user interface that would keep the focus on the content, features, and functionalities. In addition, I aimed to design clean layouts and patterns that were effortless to navigate and explore. By taking this approach, I created a design that enabled users to accomplish their goals efficiently and with minimal distractions.

Dashboard

The redesign of the Dashboard has resulted in a more efficient and user-friendly interface. The new layout and organization of the page make it easier for users to quickly access the information they need and navigate between different tools and features.

By simplifying the design and focusing on the user's goals, I created a more intuitive and streamlined experience. The new Dashboard provides better visibility and control, allowing users to manage their daily tasks more effectively and with greater confidence.

Legacy Dashboard

Queue Requests Page

With the split-screen layout, users can quickly access necessary information, resolve issues and initiate new workflows without hassle. In addition, using a combination of carousel and dropdown select allows users to create a personalized experience that supports their workflows.

The fixed primary identifier table column is a game-changer, allowing users to use it as a reference while investigating content in-depth. Additionally, the toggle-on filters sidebar empowers users to curate the content to their relevancy.

Entity Details Page

The redesign of the Entity Details aimed to provide a seamless user experience and enhance work efficiency. By allowing users to load different data and content within the current experience, we minimized the need for frequent navigation, reducing the cognitive load and increasing their productivity.

I created clear groupings of data, segmented the page, and introduced supporting visual cues to guide users through the content. The result was an easy-to-use interface that provided users with an efficient and effective way to inspect the needed information.

Component Library

We created a definitive source for our design system and its components, with the engineering team taking ownership of the process.

To achieve this, we utilized the advanced capabilities of the supernova.io platform to document and demonstrate our design system's various aspects, from the foundational components to the complex design solutions.

The design system components were first conceptualized and utilized in Figma, then swiftly transferred to Supernova for efficient implementation.

Conclusion

At its culmination, we find ourselves content with the results we've attained in the limited duration given to us. Nonetheless, this is but the dawn of the app's potential. We aspire to cultivate its capabilities, broaden its horizons, and create a sophisticated system that serves all the necessities a platform of this caliber demands.
